Main Info
Dolphins belong to the finest and most spectacular attractions of the Red
Sea. Spotting dolphins in their natural environment is a sensational
experience. Swimming near dolphins is even a life-changing experience.
On a good day, there’s a fair chance you can see dolphins in the Red Sea
if your skipper knows where to go. Well, we know where to go for an
unique opportunity to observe dolphins.
Dolphins will see you as their best pals if you leave them in peace.
Therefore you need to know a few things about these lovely creatures to
enjoy your trip even more. Dolphins are intelligent, graceful, fragile and
very sensitive, yet, in essence, they are wild animals. You cannot expect
them to show up at your command to entertain you.
They are, mild as they are, still predators who live in the wild where our
trip will take us, heading for the area of Fanouz and Sha’ab el Erg.
These sites have a protectorate status. They are national maritime parks
and of course we strictly follow their rules and regulations for the
comfort of the dolphins.
When you encounter bottlenose dolphins on your trip, you have to act
respectfully and observe the codes of conduct like we do. Rule number
one: never touch a dolphin. It is very tempting to touch them because
they act playful and have a cuddly appearance. However, touching may
transmit a disease. Dolphins are very curious and if they come to play
around you, sometimes even within touching distance, that’s fine. Just
enjoy passive interaction. The dolphins decide if they want to entertain
you but keep a distance and do not touch them. They will be very
grateful for your respect and become your best friends!
Here’s some more advice to make your trip memorable for you and the
dolphins:
Swim very gently and quietly
Never leave the boat without lifejacket, fins, mask and snorkel
Keep your arms close to your body, move only your fins without
excessive splashes
Don’t go at a dolphin directly. Never dive down directly from above
Don’t make any unnecessary noises
Let’s take a closer look at your trip with us. We will collect you from your
holiday location and drive you to our centre. The trip starts in the early
morning hours and, weather permitting, we will reach the area of
Sha’ ab El Erg two hours later.
Sha’ ab El Erg offers a fine mix of flora and fauna with a beautiful
panorama of hard and soft corals and colourful fish. It is also famous as
a natural environment and residence for bottlenose dolphins.
We will dip in the water to snorkel and swim with the happy dolphins
when they show up. We will then move on to the second location for a
lunch buffet, freshly cooked and served on board. Non-alcoholic drinks,
coffee, tea and water are free with reasonable limits. After lunch we will
go out snorkelling again and watch dolphins perform acrobatic acts or
even tease you if they are in the mood!
We return later in the afternoon after an exciting day on the Red Sea! Of
course we will transfer you back to your location. Please make sure you
have your sun cream, towel and swimwear ready to take with you. We
take care of fins and masks!
Disclaimer: please bear in mind that dolphins are not house pets that
show up on demand or command. Dolphins live in the wild. We cannot
dictate their presence. Sightings or encounters with dolphins can never
be 100% guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding!
