During your entry-level diving certification, you learned about some of the risks associated with scuba diving. Standard diving first aid often involves providing emergency oxygen to an injured diver but it is also highly beneficial for near-drowning incidents. Do you want to be ready to help a fellow diver if the need should arise?

Gaining the knowledge and skills to understand when and how to use emergency oxygen is important and from our point of view absolutely necessary for anyone involved with diving.

Taking the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Course will enable you to recognize scuba diving illnesses treatable with emergency oxygen, and prepare you to offer assistance.

Though suited primarily for divers, this course has no prerequisites, age restrictions or doesn’t include dives. It is applicable to everyone. Divers, snorkelers and anyone who is around divers such as boat crew, lifeguards, can benefit from having this training.

You will learn about dive injuries, different types of emergency oxygen equipment and safety considerations when using oxygen.

Your instructor will also teach you:

• How to assemble and disassemble emergency oxygen equipment.
• Understanding anatomy and physiology.
• Oxygen first aid for diving emergencies.
• Oxygen and its hazards.
• Benefits of oxygen for diving emergencies.
• Oxygen delivery systems and components.
• Providing oxygen for scuba diving injuries.
• Deploying a non-rebreather mask and a demand inhalator valve on a breathing diver.
• Using a pocket mask on a non-breathing diver.

All the materials for the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Course are provided by us and we can help you with the purchase of your own emergency unit kit. You will also need to have a disposable non-rebreather mask to use during practice sessions, which your instructor can help provide.
