Stress plays a major role during emergencies and diving accident and negatively impacts rescue situations. How would you react in a diving emergency? Can you assist another diver until help arrives? There is probably no worse feeling than being helpless in such a situation. You would like to know how to handle correctly in these situations, to get more confidence and to take care of yourself, your buddy and other divers?
Well, the SSI Diver and Rescue Specialty Course teach you the skills and knowledge required to recognize, prevent and deal with emergency situations encountered by divers. There are various aspects such as accident management and how to make a difference in an emergency situation. It makes you aware of the dangers of diving and how to deal with it.
The minimum age to adhere to the SSI Diver and Rescue Specialty Course is 15 years and you must have finished the SSI Open Water Diver Course successfully. You also need to have a valid First Aid and CPR certificate (within the last 2 years).
The SSI Diver and Rescue Specialty Course include 2 theory sessions, 2 confined water sessions, and 2 open water dives for 2 days.
You will learn:
- To manage your own stress.
- To decrease the chance of a diving accident due to stress and panic.
- Accident management procedures.
- Rescue skills to aid the victim without jeopardizing the diver.
- What is stress?
- To deal with unique and complicated emergency situations.
This course is all about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and underwater.
Your instructor will push you out of your comfort zone. A reality check for divers, regarding how fast things can go from completely normal into total chaos.
After completing the SSI Diver and Rescue Specialty Course you will be able to prevent an emergency and in the event of an emergency to respond adequately.
