What is the PADI Open Water Diver Course?

The PADI Open Water Diver (OWD) course is the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba diving certification program. With Red Sea Life, you’ll learn the fundamental knowledge and skills to dive safely and confidently with a buddy, independent of supervision. This comprehensive program includes dive theory (completed via PADI eLearning), essential pool training to complete your confined water dives, four open water training dives in the stunning Red Sea to finalize your skills, and as a special bonus from Red Sea Life, two additional free fun dives to enjoy after you’re certified!

Your Underwater Adventure: What You’ll Learn

Our expert PADI instructors will guide you every step of the way. You’ll master:

• Dive Theory: Understanding diving physics, physiology, equipment, and the aquatic environment through PADI eLearning (to be completed before arrival).
• Equipment Familiarization: Learn to set up, use, and care for essential scuba gear, including masks, fins, buoyancy control devices (BCDs), regulators, and tanks.
• Essential Dive Skills: Practice crucial techniques in our training pool (confined water) such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures.
• Safe Diving Practices: Develop skills for planning dives, underwater navigation, problem-solving, and being an environmentally aware diver.
• Boat Diving Procedures: Learn entries, exits, and safety protocols for diving from our comfortable dive boats.

PADI Open Water Diver Course Structure at Red Sea Life

Our structured yet flexible course is designed to fit your vacation schedule, typically completed over 3 days:

• Day 1: Confined Water Dives (Pool Training) & Knowledge Development Review (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
  • Location: Training Pool at Desert Rose Resort.
  • Activities: Review of your eLearning, equipment familiarization, and extensive in-water skills practice (confined water dives) focusing on mask clearing, buoyancy control, regulator retrieval, and safety procedures.
• Day 2: Open Water Dives 1 & 2 (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
  • Location: Beautiful Red Sea dive sites (via boat).
  • Activities: Apply your pool skills in the open water, focusing on skill review and then an exploration dive to practice navigation and environmental awareness. Includes a €7 per day National Park fee.
• Day 3: Open Water Dives 3 & 4 (8:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
  • Location: Different Red Sea dive sites (via boat).
  • Activities: Further application of skills and building confidence, culminating in your final assessment dive to demonstrate competency. Includes a €7 per day National Park fee.

Globally Recognized Certification

Upon successful completion, you’ll earn the prestigious PADI Open Water Diver certification, allowing you to dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) anywhere in the world. PADI is the most recognized dive training organization globally.

Prerequisites to Start Your Diving Journey

• Minimum age: 10 years old.
• Ability to swim and be comfortable in the water.
• Completion of the PADI eLearning theory portion prior to arrival (we’ll provide access upon deposit).

Course Price & Inclusions

The PADI Open Water Diver Course costs €479 per person. This includes:

• €360 for course training, pool sessions/confined water dives, 4 open water training boat dives, and full equipment rental during the course.
• €105 for official PADI eLearning materials and your PADI certification card.
• €14 in government taxes.
• Free pickup service from any hotel in Hurghada.

Not Included:

• Underwater photos (available for purchase).
• Diving computer rental (optional).
• Equipment rental for the 2 free fun dives.

A deposit of €195 per person is required to access the PADI eLearning materials and secure your place. The remaining balance can be paid on-site.
