El Fanadir is one of the longest reefs along the coast of Hurghada to the north that can be reached by boat after around 30 minutes sailing.

El Fanadir is divided in two: Fanadir North and Fanadir South.

Fanadir South consists of a reef wall going from 10 to 15 meters deep. A sandy plateau of 30 meters width is leading to another steep wall reaching 40 meters deep or maybe more.

On the plateau of Fanadir South, you will find nice small coral formations filled with glassfish and from time to time you can even spot a frogfish and some shrimps.

The best is to continue to dive the plateau to the left, the chance to encounter special species is greater.

Close to the reef is a coral block with a cleaning station where you will find normally groupers and moray eels lined up to be cleaned by wrasses and shrimps.

For this dive it isn’t needed to dive along with the drop-off, it isn’t offering anything worth seeing. It is better to stay near the reef where you can find most of the marine life.

In Fanadir South there is an abundance of stonefish, scorpionfish, and lionfish.

The reef wall is teeming with silversides near the surface. Sometimes you can even see tunas and jacks hunting.

Fanadir South is one of the most wonderful diving sites in Hurghada where you can make different kinds of dives such as drift dives or night dives.

A dive at Fanadir South is a normal dive along a beautiful coral wall with a very special bonus such as octopus or different kind of moray eels coming out of their hiding place. The seagrass in the lagoon is a home for the thorny seahorse, the seagrass ghost fish, the dwarf coral devil, and the Red Sea Walkman. With a little luck on your side, you can spot them all or at least one of them.

Fanadir South is suitable for all levels of divers. Most of the time the current at Fanadir South is insignificant. A dive site worthwhile diving at.
